Van Damme ensures a clean business
As an experienced partner in professional and industrial cleaning machines, Van Damme helps entrepreneurs keep their businesses clean. Sustainable energy use
- In 2011, more than 500 solar panels were installed on the roofs of our company building in Waregem, with a total capacity of 116.16 kWp.
- In 2015, we participated in a lighting study with Relux. Following this study, we took action to:
- Replace all traditional lighting with modern, more energy-efficient LED lighting, including motion and light intensity sensors;
- A combination of skylights and white-painted walls to provide as much natural daylight as possible in the workplace.
- We installed fans on the ceilings to push heat back down.
- A turbo door airlock was installed in our company building to keep cold air out as much as possible.
- We invested heavily in the expansion of an electric fleet of company vehicles.
- Our compressed air pipes have a night clock, which automatically shuts them off after 8 p.m. The result? Less energy loss.
- The exterior walls of our workshop were completely insulated.
Sorting and recycling old parts and equipment
- In our workshops, all old parts, batteries, and equipment (if necessary) are separated and sorted (such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and other materials).
- A certified scrap metal dealer then collects the old parts. This ensures that these parts are prepared for recycling and reuse.
Appliances that comply with the strictest environmental standards
- We strive to distribute only products or appliances that are subject to the strictest environmental standards.
- Our delivery trucks and lorries comply with the latest standards, with the lowest possible fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions.
Limiting water consumption
- Thanks to our large rainwater collection capacity (500,000 liters), we limit our consumption of municipal water.
- When testing our stationary high-pressure cleaners, we reinject water into the drain and recover our own rainwater.
- We offer water recycling and water control systems to our customers. This process ensures optimal use of rainwater and less use of municipal water.
Sustainable travel to work and customers
- Van Damme employees who cycle to work receive a trendy set of cycling clothing as a gift. This incentive encourages them to cycle as many kilometers as possible to and from work, which also has positive effects on the physical condition and mental well-being of the staff.
- Journeys to customers or other business contacts are made in electric cars as much as possible.
- All employees who drive a company vehicle receive Eco Drive training.
