The 6 advantages of medium and high-pressure cleaning

Is your company looking for the ideal way to clean machines, floors, and production sites? At Van Damme, we specialize in industrial cleaning machines and are firmly committed to medium- or high-pressure cleaning. Why? We explain below.

Cleaning with medium or high pressure

High-pressure cleaning involves a water jet of 120 bar or higher, while medium-pressure cleaning involves a water jet of between 60 and 80 bar. There are various types of pressure washers, depending on the surface to be cleaned, the frequency, and the type of dirt. The type of dirt is closely related to the rinsing power and the use of hot or cold water. At Van Damme, we distinguish between:

  • Cold or hot water pressure washers
  • Single-phase, propulsion or gasoline
  • Mobile, portable or fixed installation
  • Pressure washers with or without reel

When to use high pressure and when to use medium pressure?

  • High pressure: heavy soiling, vehicles, cranes, forklifts, engines, etc. è
  • Medium pressure: food companies where machines with delicate parts such as sensors and motors are cleaned.

The 6 advantages of medium and high-pressure cleaning

Medium and high-pressure cleaning offers numerous advantages.

1. High-pressure cleaning is the most environmentally friendly choice

Medium and high-pressure cleaning uses less water, soap, and energy than low-pressure cleaning.

  • High-pressure cleaning: minimum 120 bar with a flow rate of 15-22 liters per minute.
  • Medium-pressure cleaning: minimum 60 bar with a flow rate of 20-30 liters per minute.
  • Low-pressure cleaning: 20 to 30 bar with a flow rate that is often double (up to 50 liters per minute) to achieve the same result.

Medium and high-pressure cleaners are therefore extremely efficient.

2. You work faster and more efficiently

With high- and medium-pressure systems, you achieve better results faster. In other words, by cleaning under high or medium pressure, you reduce the amount of work required and save time. You significantly increase productivity.

3. Hot or cold water

High- and medium-pressure cleaning can be done with either hot or cold water. The advantage of hot water is its extra degreasing property. For example, if you feed a stationary unit with hot water, you will need to heat up much less water volume compared to low pressure, which increases efficiency and significantly reduces energy consumption.

4. Good for stubborn dirt

High- and medium-pressure cleaning is ideal for removing heavy soiling. When a surface is exposed to dirt for a long time and/or stubborn dirt, a low-pressure cleaner is often insufficient. Take, for example, an epoxy floor in a food company. An epoxy floor does not allow water to pass through and is often equipped with anti-slip. With a high- or medium-pressure unit, you create a much better deep clean, which means that in the long term you have little or no risk of grounding, unlike with low pressure, where you have to use much more soap to compensate for this to some extent.

5. Cost-effective

You have probably already done the math yourself. Because less work is required, because you save more energy, water, and soap, and because you simply work faster, it makes sense that you save a lot of money by cleaning with high or medium pressure. In addition, the larger fixed medium-pressure units are equipped with frequency control for optimum energy efficiency.

6. Many possibilities

Cleaning with high or medium pressure is not rocket science. The simple operation and wide applicability provide a huge range of possibilities, including custom installations. After all, every sector and industry needs individual solutions.

Choose the right solution for your business

Medium and high-pressure cleaning offers numerous advantages. But do you need a mobile unit, or do you always clean at the same location? Which solution will give your business the best results? At Van Damme, we are happy to help you find the right solution.
